سابقه و هدف: آسم یکی از شایع­ ترین بیماری مزمن دوران کودکی است که که باعث مراجعه مکرر آن­ها به بیمارستان و غیبت از مدرسه می­ شود. در این مطالعه به تعیین اثر درمانی افزودن پروبیوتیک به درمان استاندارد در کودکان مبتلا به آسم خفیف تا متوسط پرداخته شد.
مواد و روش­ ها: این مطالعه کارآزمایی بالینی دو سوکور بر روی120 بیمار 3 تا 8 ساله مبتلا به آسم خفیف تا متوسط مراجعه­ کننده به درمانگاه تخصصی اطفال بیمارستان حشمتیه سبزوار صورت گرفت. بیماران با روش نمونه­ گیری تصادفی ساده بر اساس بلوکی جای­گشتی در دو گروه مداخله و کنترل قرار گرفتند و قطره­ های پروبیوتیک و پلاسبو به­ مدت دو ماه در اختیار آن­ها قرار گرفت و نحوه استفاده صحیح آموزش داده شد. در انتهای ماه دوم پرسش­نامه استاندارد تست کنترل آسم (ACT) توسط پژوهش­گر تکمیل شد. داده ­های گردآوری شده با استفاده از نرم افزار SPSS19 تحلیل شد.
یافته­ ها: در بررسی پیامدها به­ دنبال افزودن پروبیوتیک­ ها به درمان استاندارد به­ مدت دو ماه در این بیماران، تغییر معنی­ دار آماری درکنترل آسم (کنترل نسبی و عدم کنترل) بین دو گروه مشاهده نشد (05/0<P).
نتیجه ­گیری: با توجه­ به نتایج این مطالعه و عدم ایجاد تأثیر معنی­ دار آماری بین دو گروه مداخله و کنترل اضافه کردن پروبیوتیک­ ها به درمان استاندارد آسم درکودکان مبتلا به آسم خفیف تا متوسط پیشنهاد نمی ­شود.
