In this research, the effects of various concentrations of wild Oregano essential oil were investigated on some bacteria(isolated from patients in the Isfahan Healthcare Network) responsible for diarrhea. Material and methods:A total of 250 bacterial isolates were collected from urban, rural and hospital health centers of Isfahan Province of Iran and the bacterial growth inhibitory effect of concentrations of 5, 10, 20 and 40% of wild oregano(Mentha Longifulia) essential oil (prepared under drying conditions in shade, sunshine and microwave) was studied on these isolates by disk diffusion method in agar using Kirby-Bayer method Results:All concentrations of oregano(Mentha Longifulia) essential oils dried under shadow ,had a significant inhibitory effect on the growth of bacterial isolates. The most inhibitory effect was obtained at concentration of 40%.The most MIC and MBC Value of essential oils was determined at 20% and 40% of essential oils respectively. The highest isolated phytochemical was Thymol with the amount of 37.99%, and the lowest was Alha-Terpinolene and E Z-Allo with 181.0%. Conclusion:Antimicrobial properties of Wild Oregano (Mentha Longifulia) essential oils is related to its polyphenolic compounds. The antibacterial properties of this plant, due to the high amount of thymol, can be partly related to this chemical composition. From the findings, it was concluded that the highest inhibitory concentration of Wild Oregano (Mentha Longifulia) essential oil under drying in the shade was belonged to concentration of 40% and the highest isolated phytochemical was related to Thymol.
