Aim and Background: Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of important infection factors in hospitals. Overplay of antiseptics in clinical centers not only did not destroy pathogenic bacterias but also grew a resistance for these kind of compounds in microorganisms. The purpose of this study is to investigate the resistant gene to antiseptics, qacE gene, which was found among Pseudomonas aeruginosas released from hospitals.
Materials and Methods: 70 strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosas were collected from hospitals. The sensitivity of these strains to deconex was estimated by Macrodilution Broth Test. Identification of qacE gene was used by PCR.
Results: Among 70 samples isolated from hospitals 15 cases were Pseudomonas aeruginosa. 12 samples had MIC 75 µg/ml and MIC for 3 samples was 400 µg/ml. QacE gene was presented in 12 sample ((24%.
Conclusion: The results of this study indicated the presence of qacE gene in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The comparison of the results with the rest of the world indicates the increasing genetic resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to antiseptics such as deconex. These results are important in taking proper health policies and using effective antiseptics for hospital infections.
